hi all,
first apologize of my ignorance of polish, so this email is going to be in english (well sort of). i've just moved to gdansk and there was little time to properly learn polish. except kurwa and few other useful frazes i'm still not enable to get out of trouble. :)
anyway, i was going to ask if anybody knows of some hackerspace in gdansk or trojmiasto area. i believe there is none but doesn't hurt to ask. in any case if somebody have some recomendation about some good cafes / bars / clubs , where its possible to hang around and meet similar poor geek souls.
tnx in advance.

Ello, rok! Welcome to Poland!
Pass my greetings to 3city - I used to study there in early 80' :-) Unfortunately, I have no idea about current hacking scene there. However, if you cannot find a hackerspace there, I suppose you can just start one. We, at HS Warsaw, and me personally, as #FreeLab co-founder will support you in such endeavour. Morally, at least. ;-)
BTW, would you like to write a bit more about yourself?

10:11 < garbas> hey guys, anybody knows of any hackerspace in gdansk? or at least some cool places where would be nice athmosphere to code? 10:14 < rysiek|pl> garbas: not really, no; you can try joining the general hackerspace mailing list and asking there 10:14 < rysiek|pl> garbas: http://hackerspace.pl/ -> "Lista General" 10:15 < garbas> rysiek|pl: tnx, i'll give it a try 10:15 < rysiek|pl> garbas: actually, the first list, named: "Lista Ogólnohackerspace'owa [general]" 10:15 < rysiek|pl> garbas: cheers 10:21 < garbas> rysiek|pl: mailman i set a bit strange, actually if i wouldn't manually changed it i would be enable to sign in to mailing list ... confirmation for is reachable on https but then submits form to http ... though you would want to know this 10:22 < garbas> s/would/wouldn't 10:22 < rysiek|pl> garbas: there was a migration of the server, some kinks are not worked through yet, apparently. where you able to sign-in? 10:24 < garbas> rysiek|pl: sure .. i'm in 10:25 <@q3k> garbas: you mean the one on the front page, or the one on lists.hackerspace.pl? 10:26 < garbas> q3k: on lists.hackerspace.pl 10:28 <@q3k> garbas: all of the forms do not seem to be targetting a full URL... which one are you talking about exactly? 10:28 < garbas> q3k: confirmation form ... http://lists.hackerspace.pl/confirm/general/... 10:28 < garbas> q3k: this redirects you to http 10:28 < garbas> https 10:29 < garbas> q3k: but action in form element still points to http 10:29 < rysiek|pl> garbas, q3k: I'm on it 10:30 < garbas> rysiek|pl: q3k: i thought at first that this is a challange so not everybody can join :) 10:32 < garbas> i believe you forgot to set DEFAULT_URL_PATTERN ( http://wiki.list.org/display/DOC/4.27+Securing+Mailman%27s+web+GUI+by+using+... ) 10:32 < garbas> rysiek|pl: ^ 10:33 < rysiek|pl> q3k: can you fix what garbas just pasted? I'll do the forms on hackerspace.pl/index.php 11:07 < viq> garbas: out of my usual curiousity, what brings you to .pl ? 11:10 < garbas> viq: girlfriend, right now i'm just happy that winter is over :) i moved from sevilla and must say that its been a bit of temperature shock 11:11 < rysiek|pl> garbas: yeah. you know - Poland is a cool country 11:11 < enleth> garbas: not just for you, this winter was rather extreme. 11:12 < viq> garbas: haha, yeah, we finally had a decent winter this year ;D 11:13 < viq> garbas: and my other usual question, what do you like and dislike about .pl in general, and where you are specifically? ;) 11:16 < garbas> viq: hehe i feel like being on quize :) but to be honest i like the food, pierogi z miesem, mmmmm i'm sold on that only 11:16 < viq> garbas: hehe, my girlfriend (who's from UK) likes them too ;) 11:17 < garbas> viq: i hate in spain that they dont really have that much dairy products ... eg. they only have yogurt with sugar... 11:17 < garbas> viq: oh yeah ... maybe nice to mention i'm originaly from slovenia 11:17 < viq> garbas: I guessed from your .si email address ;) 11:18 < viq> garbas: and yeah, I do somewhat tend to quiz people about this, seeing as .pl is considered to be a bit back of the woods, so curious what brought people here, and once they are here what do they think about it 11:23 < garbas> while i'm here ... any thinkpad x220 user here? i want to giva a try with tp_smapi driver but from http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Tp_smapi#X_series it looks like its not going to work 11:23 < viq> garbas: using tp_smapi on x201 11:25 < ar> garbas: i'm using it on X300 and T420s 11:25 < viq> garbas: http://www.thinkwiki.org/wiki/Installing_Ubuntu_11.04_%28Natty_Narwhal%29_on... - "This problem has been fixed in tp-smapi version 0.41-1" 11:29 < garbas> viq: ar: tnx .. i'll give it a try, it says 0.40 is not working on x220 maybe 0.41 will work 11:29 < viq> garbas: what distro? 11:30 < garbas> viq: nixos -> http://nixos.org/ 11:30 < garbas> viq: i started with debian then ubuntu -> gentoo -> arch .. now i think i finally found my peace with nixos 11:31 < garbas> viq: then you would definetly like nixos 11:32 < garbas> viq: you have some extra cool stuff which i was searching for a long time in linux dristributions 11:33 < garbas> viq: example how you configure your system ... https://github.com/garbas/nixos-configuration/blob/master/configuration.nix 11:33 < antoszka> garbas: Is the package tree reasonably large/complete/well integrated/etc.? 11:34 < garbas> antoszka: its tiny compared to what debian/ubuntu have 11:34 < garbas> antoszka: which is expected i guess since its hard to package the world :) 11:35 < antoszka> garbas: right. 11:36 < garbas> antoszka: but whats not packed you pack it 11:36 < antoszka> garbas: Sure, looks nice, but I think I'll stick with gentoo for now. 11:38 < garbas> antoszka: how is gentoo doing this days? ppl came up with binary distributions? 11:40 < ar> garbas: btw, do you happen to know Andraz Levstik ("ruskie") or Jaka Kranjc ("lynxlynxlynx")? 11:41 < ar> garbas: they both live in Ljubljana 11:43 < garbas> ar: not sure i know them in person 11:44 < garbas> ar: but its true ljubljana is like vilagge compared to warszaw :) 11:44 < garbas> viq: ar: tp_smapi 0.41 works on x220 11:45 < garbas> had to pack it for nixos but works 11:45 < OlaHughson> hi garbas 11:46 < garbas> OlaHughson: yes 12:15 < ar> garbas: well, i was just asking because these two guys are the only two people that i know from irc that live there. both are developers of sourcemage linux distribution
