Liebe Freunde der FrOSCon,

lange haben wir nichts von uns hören lassen, aber wir stecken tief in den Vorbereitungen zur 15. FrOSCon 'Cloud-Edition'. Wie schon angekündigt findet die Konferenz als Online-Veranstaltung statt. Die Planung ist auch für uns Neuland, wie man so schön sagt. Wir haben keine Erfahrungswerte dazu und müssen viele Dinge erst lernen. Nichtsdestotrotz sind wir sehr zuversichtlich, Euch eine gewohnt gute Konferenz bieten zu können.

Keynote Wir freuen uns sehr, mit Prof. Ulrich Kelber [0, 1] den Bundesbeauftragten für den Datenschutz und die Informationsfreiheit als Sprecher für unsere Keynote am Samstag (13 Uhr) gewonnen zu haben. Prof. Kelber, der übrigens Informatik und Biologie studiert hat, hat u.a. die Diskussionen um die Vorratsdatenspeicherung und um sogenannte Upload-Filter mit wichtigen Impulsen bereichert und sieht das Bemühen für Datenschutz in einer immer digitaler werdenden Welt als wichtige Aufgabe.

Besuch der Online-Konferenz Alle Vorträge werden als Live-Videostream und wie gewohnt als Aufzeichnung zum späteren Nachgucken bereitgestellt werden. Die Zugänge werden wir, sobald sie bereitstehen, auf unserer Webseite [2] und den üblichen Social-Media-Kanälen, wie z.B. Twitter [3] oder Mastodon [4] bekanntgeben. Wir stellen Möglichkeiten bereit, um Fragen zu den Vorträgen zu stellen und mit den Sprechern zu diskutieren. Es wird keinen Publikumsverkehr in Sankt Augustin geben.

T-Shirt-Vorverkauf Unser Online-Shop [5] hat geöffnet. Wir haben Fitted- und Straight-Cut-Shirts aus der aktuellen Pinguin-Haute-Couture im Angebot. Die T-Shirts stehen in zwei Farbvarianten in vielen Größen von klein bis ziemlich groß zur Verfügung. Da sollte für alle etwas Passendes dabei sein. Auch für die ganz kleinen FrOSCon-Fans haben wir dieses Jahr gesorgt.

Programm Auch die Cloud-Edition der FrOSCon bietet ein abwechslungsreiches Programm [6] mit über 50 Beiträgen zu unseren aktuellen Schwerpunktthemen und zu allgemeinen Open-Source-Themen. Das Programm kann sich im Detail noch ändern. Guckt öfter mal rein, ob nicht etwas Interessantes für Euch dabei ist.

Partner Obwohl unsere Besucher und Sprecher, unsere Partner, die vielen Helfer und wir uns nicht in Sankt Augustin treffen können, haben unsere Partner doch die Möglichkeit, sich und ihre Unternehmen bzw. ihre Open-Source-Projekte online darzustellen. Es gibt auf der Konferenz viele Möglichkeiten, online in Kontakt zu treten und Ideen auszutauschen. Schaut doch vorab schon mal, wer alles dabei ist [7].

Dear friends of FrOSCon,

it has been a while since we last reached out to you. We are currently knee-deep in the preparations for the 15th 'Cloud Edition' of FrOSCon. As announced before, the conference will be an online event this year. The planning of such an online event is 'Neuland' for us, as a German saying goes. We have no prior experience and have to learn a lot. Nevertheless, we a very optimistic to deliver a good conference experience to you.

Keynote We are very pleased to be able to win Prof. Ulrich Kelber [0, 1], the Federal Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information, as the speaker for our keynote address. The keynote address will be held on Saturday, 1:00PM. Prof. Kelber, who studied computer science and biology, has, among other things, enriched the discussions about data retention and so-called upload filters with important impulses and sees the effort for data protection in an increasingly digital world as an important mission.

Attending the Conference All lectures will be available as live video streams and as usual the recordings will be made available for (re-)watching them later. We will announce ways to access the streams as soon as they are available on our website [2] and the usual social media channels, such as Twitter [3] or Mastodon [4]. We will provide ways to ask questions to our speakers and get in touch with them. There will be no general audience allowed in Sankt Augustin.

Presale T-Shirts Our on-line shop [5] has opened its doors again. We offer t-shirts from the latest penguin haute couture. The t-shirts are fitted or straight-cut and are available in two different colour schemes and in sizes from small to very large. Everyone should find something that suits their taste. This year there is even something for the smallest FrOSCon fans.

Programme As known from past conferences, the cloud edition of FrOSCon will also offer a varied programme [6] with over 50 contributions on our current main topics and on Open Source topics in general. The programme can still change in detail. Have a gander every now and then and see if there is anything interesting for you.

Partner Although our visitors and speakers, our partners, the many volunteers and we, the organisers, can't meet in Sankt Augustin in person this year, our partners have the opportunity to present themselves, their company and their Open Source projects online. There will be many possibilities at the conference to make contact online and share some ideas. Perhaps have a peek at our partner list [7] in advance to see who is attending.
